Even though it is more correct to say ultrasonography, the term ultrasound is now more frequently used among medical professionals. Perhaps because it is easier to remember and pronounciate. Ultrasonography is a non-invasive method that allows the doctor to see the soft tissues in the human body. It relies on the emission of high frequency waves (hence ultrasound…) that are reflected by the tissues and fluids they encounter on their path. Bats are using a similar method to hunt.
